HIGHLAND PARK, IL (JULY 19+20, 2013) – The Shed, the North Shore’s private musician’s club, is proud to announce the second annual ShedFest, July 19+20, benefitting Rebecca’s Dream, a local organization dedicated to promoting awareness and compassionate understanding of depression and bipolar disorder as real diseases. After an amazingly successful first year, ShedFest has been expanded to two days, and will bring together dynamic nationally recognized headliners, local musicians and member bands. With 17 hours of live music spanning the two-day outdoor festival (Friday 5-11pm, Saturday 12-11pm), ShedFest (1480 Old Deerfield Road) will showcase local musical acts during the day and early evening, culminating each night with headliners, including Eddy Clearwater, Chicago Blues Reunion, Big Bill Morganfield, Dick Holliday & The Bamboo Gang and The Bad Examples.

ShedFest 2013 will celebrate the blues, with a focus on “washing the blues away” for Rebecca’s Dream. “This is going to be an amazing opportunity to see three generations of the blues from Mississippi to Chicago, all share the stage with these legendary musicians,” says Jimmy and Kim Schiffman, owners of The Shed.

The schedule for the largest outdoor music festival to hit Chicago’s northern suburbs, reuniting blues musicians from Mississippi to Chicago is as follows:

Friday night, July 19, 5-11pm:

Saturday night, July 20 12:30-11pm:

• Big Bill Morganfield, son of blues legend, Muddy Waters and Black Shuck recording artist.

A family friendly event, ShedFest will include a tented dining area featuring a variety of local restaurants and drinks such as BBQ food from Bluegrass, South American food from Longitud315, tasty comfort food from Luke’s, and desserts and sweat treats from Maryann’s Sweet Treats & Edible Art and Depity Dawg.

A cause close to owners Jimmy Schiffman and Kimberly Fritkin-Schiffman’s hearts, proceeds from ShedFest will benefit Rebecca’s Dream, “we feel so lucky to be in a position to not only share great music with the masses, but promote awareness and compassionate understanding of depression and bipolar disorder as real diseases,” says Fritkin-Schiffman.

Fritkin-Schiffman formed a bond with Rebecca’s Dream founders, Gail and Norm Cutler, after reaching out to them on a personal family matter. She knew the partnership was meant to be and ShedFest was a perfect opportunity to share Rebecca’s Dream with a large audience. “I want to raise awareness throughout our community, specifically to teenagers and young adults, and help eliminate the stigma associated with depression and bipolar disorder.”

“We are grateful to ShedFest for allowing us to not only receive proceeds, but more importantly to raise awareness for Rebecca’s Dream,” says Gail Cutler. “A chemical imbalance is something one has, not who one is. I know firsthand the pressures young adults in our community and across the world face, and we strive to make our mark toward raised awareness. We are extremely grateful to Kim and Jim as they take us into this arena.”

The Shed, a space for those that had the ability and passion to play music but had to give it up “to get a real job,” says Jim Schiffman, is honored to bring diverse offerings to the musically inclined masses by way of ShedFest. “Last year was such a huge success, we decided to make this an annual event and anticipate bringing several thousand people onto our site during ShedFest.”

Tickets are $15 for Friday, $25 for Saturday, or $35 for both days. Advanced tickets sales are available at www.ShedFest2013.eventbrite.com. There will be plenty of parking, as well as free parking shuttles to the event, and attendees are allowed to come and go as they please.
