September is suicide prevention month.

The time of year when the world speaks loudest in its best effort to highlight an issue that affects millions of people. But suicide goes far beyond statistics. On a granular level, mental health challenges will touch all of us either personally or through someone we love. Acknowledging this reality is a monumental step towards combating a person’s darkest moments. It is an imperative component of support needed to help a loved one overcome their struggle.

While we highlight the perils of suicide this month, stopping it is the ultimate goal every day of the year. For some, the determination to live can be a difficult minute by minute decision. By minimizing the risk factors, suicide can be prevented. Meeting a person where they are in their mental health journey instead of where you’d like them to be is the best step forward in helping to move through the fog towards daylight.

Rebecca’s Dream 2022 Benefit

A fantastic dinner, bocce, games, and energetic dancing rounded out a memorable evening, and successful 17th year annual fund raiser.

July 16, 2022, Rebecca’s Dream’s supporters gathered at Pinstripes, Northbrook, Ill., to Celebrate 17 years of “Changing the Face of Depression” and to promote awareness and compassionate understanding of depression and bipolar disorder as real diseases.

670 Score radio personality, Dan Bernstein, Master of Ceremonies, shared a powerful message about the importance of mental health stigma and the progress we’re making to eliminate it. Bernstein urged all to continue fighting against stigma and expressed their appreciation for the help, hope, knowledge and support offered by Rebecca’s Dream to so many in need.

The room was filled with guests of all ages as Susan Bell, Executive Director of CBO spoke about the impact of RD’s programming, RD’s 2022 Scholarship recipients were honored, Rebecca’s Dream’s President, Stan Slovin, recognized RD’s Heroes for their constant support and efforts, Founders Gail and Norm Cutler extended their gratitude and appreciation to the Board, volunteers and the dedication of our donors who make it possible to continue the mission and vision of Rebecca’s Dream. They shared their vision of a world where the stigma of mental illness would be only a memory.

We thank you for attending the 17th Annual Rebecca’s Dream Benefit and Auction, supporting RD through your financial generosity, volunteering, sponsoring, and for walking the path with us to reduce stigma of mental illness while we educate our audience and beyond.

With infinite gratitude,
The Board of Directors of Rebecca’s Dream
